A pair of small handmade ceramic cups from Mashiko, one of Japan’s most respected pottery towns known for its mingei (folk craft) tradition. These pieces reflect the warm, earthy character typical of Mashiko-yaki, featuring natural glazes, hand-painted decoration, and the familiar iron-rich clay body. The first cup has a simple floral motif painted in iron glaze over a pale crackle surface. The second cup displays a classic Mashiko brush-painted vine pattern in brown, green, and red. The crackle glaze, subtle glaze pooling, and painterly brushstrokes are all characteristic of Mashiko’s rustic, functional aesthetic. Both cups are versatile for tea, sake, condiments, or as display pieces.
