Heavy vintage silver hinged cuff bracelet - 125 g - tribal/ethnic

This is a striking, hand crafted, heavy hinged cuff bracelet in solid silver, beautifully made with traditional textured repousse panels and geometric polished sections. The cuff dates back to the second part of the 19th century, and is probably of Iraqi or Bedouin origin. This style of work is typical of Ottoman era provincial silversmithing. The cuff features a handmade hinge and removable pin clasp, also typical of older Middle Eastern tribal jewellery. It’s unhallmarked, which again is typical of this type of regional silver. The metal polishes and wears exactly as solid silver and has a lovely natural patina. Condition: very good vintage condition with light surface wear and a small age related split at one join (see photo 7) typical of older handmade silver which does not affect the wearing of the cuff.
